Karate Skills – Personal Development
1 I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father; and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days; yea, having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God, therefore I make a record of my proceedings in my days.
7 And it came to pass that he built an altar of stones, and made an offering unto the Lord, and gave thanks unto the Lord our God.
First, learn what we should learn.
Second, do what we should do.
And third, be what we should be.

From long ago, the need for a better way to teach and practice Karate has existed and will until —

From long ago, the need for a better way, Karate Now, to teach basic karate techniques has existed. With innovative people, the strategies and methods have definitely improved. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all those innovative people that have helped. They have improved themselves and their corrupt techniques over time. Hopefully, Karate Now, becomes a wonderful experience for them. It is also hoped that they have had great personal development through the training and sharing of karate. Those that follow us, can certainly be rewarded for the efforts that we will do and developing Karate Now. After over 50 years of participating in karate and teaching and sharing the things that we’ve learned, both in our effort of practicing and testing the new concepts will be made to help the learning process much easier than it was for us. When I say US, I’m talking about the people now and in the past.
Initially, we introduced six basic karate hand techniques. Obviously, karate is thought to be and is more than just basic techniques. The building blocks of karate come from properly designed and perfectly practiced basic techniques. which include both of hand techniques and kicking basic techniques. Six basic hand techniques that we will use are rising block. down block, inside middle block, outside middle block, knife hand block and the punch. Backfist Strike has also been added with this edit to bring the total to Seven. There will be instruction on each individual technique and in series of combinations.

There will also be included concepts that are needed to have strong, powerful and fluid karate techniques. Karate Now combined with old karate bring an understanding how those techniques will add to power and fluid movement which will help you become more skillful with your karate techniques. The execution of karate techniques requires more than just the physical. Overtime, an understanding of many important concepts intertwined with physical activities will be taught and hopefully learned by the students.

This simplification will help. It will help with concentration. It will help in focusing on concepts.
There is a better way than just swinging your arms and legs around. There is a better way than just practicing without a directed plan. Speaking of concepts, we will present a few here.
- Complete and forceful contraction of the abdominal muscles.
- Elevation and depression of the shoulder girdle.
- Placement of the shoulder girdle.
- Understanding of breathing as it relates to technique.
- High intensity exercise.
- Transfer of body momentum.
- Body Rotation.
The program started October 2022. The initial group did 100 days with only three days off.
The design of the program was/is to teach the basics with both hands doing the same thing. The initial sequence Is composed of a starting position, which is an X block in front of the middle of your chest.
The next is to move the from X there to a modified rising block. In this position the X should be at the wrist. After the rising block, we should return to the X chest. The next step is to do a double downward block. The downward block should end with each hand on separate sides of the body. Videos will make this easier to understand.
